About Michael Colton:

Mr. Colton recently joined Lamont following a 27 year municipal finance career in investment banking where he secured, managed, and structured over $100 billion of financings for governmental entities across a variety of sectors that included general municipal infrastructure, water & sewer utilities, public power, airports, mass transit, housing and higher education, among others.

Mr. Colton joined Morgan Stanley in November 1996 and was responsible for the coverage of some of the largest governmental issuers in the country, including New York City, NYC Municipal Water Authority, District of Columbia, DC Water, NYMTA, the PANYNJ, and LIPA. For these and many other clients he managed the complete financing process that included bond offering and other legal documentation review, rating agency credit preparation, investor marketing, financial structuring, securities pricing, and transaction closing.

Recognized for his quantitative, structuring and analytical skills, Mr. Colton leverages a thorough understanding of the full menu of fixed and variable rate debt products, and credit structures across the taxable, tax exempt, and securitization markets as needed on behalf of clients.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Mr. Colton managed the Municipal Securities Capital Markets Group at Prudential Securities. Mr. Colton began his municipal banking career in 1988 at Lazard Freres, the then number one ranked Municipal financial advisor in the industry.
Mr. Colton holds an MS in Industrial Engineering from Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science and a BA in Computer Science from Yeshiva University. Mr. Colton is a registered Series 50 Municipal Advisor Representative.
